This beautiful red sandstone-built property had eroded masonry due to inappropriate application of cement-based pointing. The use of cement caused another problem; excess moisture was unable to escape from the walls and therefore several timber lintels were structurally compromised by rot. The Woodlouse team removed the cement-based pointing, carried out localised rebuilds where required and restored the stonework faces to their former glory using matched-lime mortar.
